Room for your grief, whatever its shape

Understanding it

Grief comes in many forms

Grief isn’t only about death. It can follow the end of a relationship, a move, a diagnosis, an estrangement, leaving a faith or community, or a future that didn’t turn out the way you hoped. Some losses are recognized by everyone around you; others are quiet, and it can feel like you’re grieving alone.

There’s no right way or right timeline to grieve. It can come in waves, show up in your body, and resurface on anniversaries or on ordinary afternoons.

You don’t have to be falling apart to deserve support. If grief is weighing on you, that’s reason enough.

You might be here because…

  • You’ve lost someone, and people expect you to be “over it” by now
  • The grief comes in waves you can’t predict
  • Your loss is one others don’t seem to see: a relationship, a faith, a community
  • You feel numb, angry, or guilty, and aren’t sure that’s okay
  • Anniversaries, holidays, or ordinary moments knock you flat
  • You’re grieving the life you expected to have

How we’ll work together

Gently, at your pace

Every story is different, so our work is shaped around you. Here’s how my approach fits this work.

  • Space for all of it

Sadness, anger, relief, guilt, numbness: every feeling is welcome, and you don’t have to tidy any of it up.

  • Honor the story

We’ll make room to remember, and to explore how this loss connects with other losses and experiences in your life.

  • Grief in your body

Grief often lives in the body: exhaustion, tightness, trouble sleeping. Mindfulness and body awareness can help you care for yourself through it.

  • The people around you

Loss changes families and relationships. We’ll look at shifting roles, and how to ask for the support you need.

Common questions

Questions people often ask

How long does grief last?

There’s no set timeline. Grief often softens and changes shape over time rather than ending, and it can resurface on anniversaries or in unexpected moments. Counseling can help whether your loss was recent or years ago.

Can I come to counseling for a loss that isn’t a death?

Yes. Breakups, divorce, estrangement, leaving a faith or community, a move, a health change, or losing the future you pictured are all real losses, and all welcome here.

Is what I’m feeling normal?

Grief can bring sadness, anger, guilt, relief, numbness, or all of them at once. Most of it is a natural response to loss. If grief feels stuck, or is making daily life very hard, that’s a good reason to reach out.

What if my grief is tied to leaving a church or community?

That kind of loss is real, even when others don’t recognize it. My practice includes religious trauma and recovery from high-control environments, so there’s room here for that grief, too.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. I offer secure video sessions for anyone located in Arkansas, and in-person sessions at the Cozy Cottage in downtown Bentonville. If you live outside Arkansas, ask about coaching by video.
