Counseling for young adults in Bentonville, AR
Big questions, and someone in your corner
Support for the years of leaving home, building a life, and figuring out what you believe and who you want to be. In person in downtown Bentonville or online anywhere in Arkansas.
Understanding it
The years of figuring it out
Young adulthood is full of firsts and lasts: leaving home, starting college or a career, new relationships and breakups, and deciding what you believe for yourself. It can be exciting and deeply unsettling at the same time.
It’s also when many people start to look honestly at the family and beliefs they grew up with, and notice the patterns they want to keep, and the ones they don’t.
You don’t need to have it all figured out to start counseling. That’s what it’s for.
You might be here because…
- You feel behind, or pressure to have it all figured out
- You’re questioning beliefs you grew up with
- Leaving home stirred up more than you expected
- School, work, or the future keeps you up at night
- Relationships, breakups, or loneliness are weighing on you
- You’re figuring out who you are, apart from your family
How we’ll work together
Becoming your own person
Every story is different, so our work is shaped around you. Here’s how my approach fits this work.
-
Your life, your direction
You don’t need anyone else deciding who you should be. I’ll help you hear your own voice, and learn to trust it.
-
Understand where you come from
We’ll look at how your history shapes your reactions and relationships now, so you can choose what to carry forward.
-
Family, with new boundaries
Becoming your own person while staying connected is a big task. We’ll look at family roles and practice boundaries that fit the adult you’re becoming.
-
Steady under pressure
Mindfulness and body awareness give you tools for stress, sleep, and big feelings, day to day.
Common questions
Questions people often ask
Do you work with college students?
Yes. If you’re 18 or older and located in Arkansas, we can meet by secure video wherever you are in the state, or in person at the Cozy Cottage in downtown Bentonville.
Do you see anyone under 18?
No. I work one-on-one with adults 18 and older.
Will what I say be shared with my parents?
No. As an adult client, what you share in counseling is confidential, with a few legal exceptions, such as a serious risk to someone’s safety. I’ll walk you through those clearly before we begin.
What if I don’t know what I want to work on?
That’s okay, and very common. Many people start with a general feeling of being stuck, anxious, or unsure. We’ll figure out what matters most to you, together.
Can you help if I’m questioning the faith I grew up with?
Yes. Questioning or leaving the beliefs you were raised with is a big part of young adulthood for many people. My practice includes religious trauma and recovery from high-control environments, and there’s no agenda here about what you should believe.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. I offer secure video sessions for anyone located in Arkansas, and in-person sessions at the Cozy Cottage in downtown Bentonville. If you live outside Arkansas, ask about coaching by video.
How do I get started?
Start with a free 15-minute consultation by video or phone. It’s a relaxed, no-pressure chance to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit. You can book it here.
